MiG-21BIS – barevné kabáty pro BISa

Vždy se snažíme modelářům nabídnout pestrou směsici, z níž si vybere (téměř) každý. Kritérii výběru obvykle bývají zbarvení letadla, stát, oblast či ozbrojený konflikt, kde působilo, osobnost pilota či zajímavý příběh, jenž se ke stroji váže, ale také dostupnost podkladů, nejlépe fotografických.

Se stejnou filosofií jsme přistupovali také k BISu. Po verzi MT / SMT, kde se z logiky věci objevily pouze MiGy se sovětskými (resp. ruskými) hvězdami, jsme sáhli po mixu zahraničních uživatelů – pokud bych to měl brát od severu, tak Finskem počínaje a Indií konče.

Pro rekonstrukci zbarvení a markingu se snažíme sesbírat maximum všemožných podkladů. Z nich pak vznikají barevná čtyřpohledová schémata a následně také obtisky. Výběr markingů běží zároveň s přípravou plastových dílů. Pro indického a chorvatského BISa bylo nutné zkonstruovat několik antén, které v plechovém provedení nejsou tak realistické.
V této fázi také spolupracujeme s tzv. „externími odborníky“. Obvykle jde o badatele, nadšence, pamětníky, kteří jsou ve svém, mnohdy úzce zaměřeném oboru skutečnými experty.

V případě BISa nám s rekonstrukcí finského letounu pomohl Kyösti Partonen, jeden z předních odborníků na finské letectvo a autor řady knih. Jen díky jeho postřehům jsme byli schopni MiG-21BIS „MG-129“ rekonstruovat do podoby, v níž létal v létech 1980 až 1981 – tedy v období před zástavbou „západní“ avioniky a související změnou podoby kokpitu.
A když už píši o zahraničních spolupracovnících…při konstrukci plastových dílů nám pomáhal Gábor Szekeres. Tento vynikající maďarský modelář zná MiGy-21BIS do posledního šroubku a nýtu. Byť jsme všechna jeho doporučení nezapracovali (což jej jako fanouška tohoto letadla dost zarmoutilo a přimělo k protestům), velmi nám jeho podklady a znalosti pomohly.

Hallo,
die Auswahl gerade bei der MiG ist schwer, aufgrund der weiten Verbreitung und zahlreicher attraktiver Bemalungen.
Aber für die Erstauflage gerade der MiG-21bis wären Profiles von Maschinen der letzten Nutzer in Europa eine Option (u.a. Rumänien, Serbien).
Oder „MiG-21bis auf allen Kontinenten“ ?

Ahoj Tomáši. Na kamuflážích s námi spolupracovali hlavně ti dva zmiňovaní, zbytek je práce našich lidí. A nový trup… počkej si do příštího týdne. Odkryjeme kolem tohoto tématu víc než dost informací;)

It was a pleasure to provide some detail information on the MiG-21 bis for this kit. On the other hand it is sad that not all identifying features of the MiG-21 bis have been incorporated into the kit. Or can we still expect a MIRACLE in December with a new MiG-21 bis fuselage?
Sad that my comments on the Hungarian AF example were not taken into account. There are problems with the paint scheme given above and also the aircraft is in fact from 31.TFW from Taszar AFB and it is a Type 75AP.
Still, look forward with interest to the kit.

The Indian MiG is incorrectly stated as from the tactics and Air combat development establishment, its actually from No 4 sqn „Oorials“ sqn at Uttarlai not Jamnagar !!! The Oorial (mountain Ram) insignia is quite clear on the nose. The small IFF Chelten antenna on the nose just ahead of the windscreen is also missing (at least from the art work).. Otherwise iam sure itll be the usual great Eduard standard kit !!

Dear Gabor, as discussed via e-mail we decided not to make a new mould for the extra BIS kit…due to the many reasons. It will be fully explained by my colleagues in the separate article. The article will be accompanied by some drawings to make our decision clear.
We are very happy to cooperate with you – some of your comments were accepted and helped us during the design phase a lot, some of them not and the different way how to create the BIS kit was followed.

Hello, the antennae for Indian as well as for the Croatian versions are moulded as plastic parts. I believe the all of them are a part of the new sprue.
You are right that there is the Ooorials badge on the nose. We have got theinformation from our external experts that this A/C was used by TACDE for the limited time. The Limited Edition kit focused on the colourfull Indian MiGs could be welcomed by the modellers – so, we would be very happy to get as the most accurate info on Indian MiGs as possible. Would you like to recommend the sources, please?

So why confuse everyone ?? just call it a 4 sqn Bis ?? TACDE had its own crest on the nose, a pair of crossed swords on a red disc with different air combat colours mainly differently coloured polka dots. I suspect your sources are based on Mr Peter Steineman’s photography of the IAF in the early 1990s which was published in the Air power journal 9 and 12 around the same time. there are clearly some mistakes therein. If you wish i could email you some pics of more spectacular schemes to a separate email ID ??

…to be more accurate…I´m talking about the fuselage, the dorsal part and the fin were newly designed and the barnd new sprue was introduced in the separate article on the BLOG.

The main decal sheet is Cartograf printed, correct? But on the Modelimex website a sheet is shown with the text ‘Made in Czech Republic’. Are there boxes with different decal sheets around?
Dear Martin, the Hungarian MiG-21bis (75AP) based on the Taszar AFB, 2nd TFS (Boszorkany – Witch) squadron, not Papa as written in other (wrong) sources. The white paint was a temporarly washable one, and was used for a couple of days in the 1991 Taszar Airshow, as a demo camouflage. The demo pilot of this bird was Maj. Jozsef Dosa, who actually was amember of the 1st TFS (Turul) squadron, as deputy commander of that squad.
But we would have a „bis“ at least, to built. Many thanks.

yes, the info about the Cartograf is correct – and the quality of the decal sheet is superb. the text „Made in Czech Republic“ means that the design was made in our country…..
