MiG-15 1/72 – First Sprues [PHOTOS]
Posted by Libor Havránek|on August 2 2012, 10:37 AM|in Blog, Eduard Products|in 1/72, MiG-15, test spruesIn past days we injected the very first test sprues of our upcoming (and awaited) MiG-15 in 72nd scale! It went pretty well and the first fast-assembly test shows us just minor corrections need to be made.
The new MiG-15 in 72nd scale is scheduled on November 2012 and will be released under catalog number #7056 as ProfiPACK.
Meanwhile, check out the photos of the first sprues and the fast-assembly kit below! We’re looking forward to your insights, questions and opinions in the comments below.

Finely, I been waiting for a good 1/72 Mig 15. Also your 1/144 Ju52 Aunte Ju. Only one of my many favorite
Aircraft the Douglas DC-3, Wildcat, and Catalina topping the list.
Thanks
This is good news. Just a question: As far as it is visible from these photos, this will be a plain early, first generation MiG-15. So it will be as it should on the original MiG-15 with small airbrakes, small tail bumbper, straight exhaust, big service panels symmetrical on the bottom, early gunbay cover, early cannons and blast fence, early intake center section, early ejection seat and canopy as well as the well know oval antenna on the back just to mention a few. Is it?
Are there plans to produce the second generation MiG-15 bis fighter which was a completely different aircraft? New and bigger airbrakes (two versions), new engine exhaust, new tail bumper, different location for the big engine service panels, new gunbay cover, new guns with blast shields, new wing with landing light on it, new intake center body, late style ejection seat and canopy just to mention the bigger differences.
Best regards
Gabor
Looking forward in getting these kits, ANY chance we could request a MIG-17 in 72nd scale, after everyone has gotten their MIG-15 fill???
Just picked up the L-39ZO in Libyan markings and the F6F “Hellcats” in 72nd scale, “SWEEEEEET” looking kits, “Thank You” Eduard!!!
Now, where’s the Bf-110G-4 we been waiting for???
At last !! Good News !
I really hope a separate canopy is provided too.
Finally, a good and accurate 1/72 Mig-15 will be available ! I hope that the Mig-15 Bis and the two seater will also follow.
It is a good idea as many Soviet fighters kits on the market today are sometimes not accurate.
By the way, I would be happy (and I’m not the only one) if you could scale down your series of Mig-21s in 1/72 and produce other accurate Soviet/Russian Jets like the Mig-17, Mig-23, Mig-25… To name a few.
Keep up the good work with your kits,
All the Best,
J.C. DANIS
Hello Gabor and thanks for your pro input regarding this aircraft!
We’re planning to release the bis version as well and as always, we’ll try to cover most of the detail differences between these two aircraft.
In case we’ll need some consultation, we’ll kindly use your further insights.
Hello Thomas,
I’m not sure about the MiG-17 – that sound like a long run (time wise). The G version of Bf 110 will follow next year, so stay tuned!
I’m very excited by this news and look very forward to seeing the kit available.
May I suggest a MiG-19 series in 1/72 as a possible future project? The existing MiG-19 kits are rather old and have a variety of issues to overcome in building them.
I, for one, would very much appreciate a fresh, modern kit of the “Forgotten MiG”
I have just seen the full illustration at the beginning of this blog and the given aircraft 3234 looks like a MiG-15 bis with big airbrake and the antenna on the spine. On the plastic parts the details are not so clear. So is it going to be an early MiG-15 or a second generation MiG-15 bis? It would be nice to see a few more photos of the test plastic.
One more note: on the art work it looks like the flying pair of Czech MiG’s have the red engine exhaust cover’s installed! It would be a big problem in real life and the aircraft would hardly be able to take off! Also ground crew would be in trouble for this! The VK-1 engine did not have an afterburner and it had a fairly long exhaust tube so you would not see any “flames” there! You can call it a minor or marginal mistake . . . Just though I mention it before the final artwork is approved.
Best regards
Gabor
It is great that there will be a nice Mig-15 kit in 1/72. Been waiting for that a long time.
I would like it if you add the Mig-15 of col. Evgeni pepelyav, the red nose with silver 925.
Best regards sam hendriks
Thanks a lot for your response and input guys. It’s really appreciated! Stay tuned for more material to come during this week!
when will the 1/32 communauty have a decent MiG-15 or 17 in that scale ,the Trumpeter being wrong unfortunately.
You people are amongst the best with Tamiya.
best regards
I can´t understand…how many years waiting for a good Mig-15???? Hobby Boss is nice, but have some inacurates. Hey!!!! It’s a Mig-!5!!!! One of the icons of history aviation!! What happened with a good accurate Mig-21(F, F-13, PF, MF, BIS, etc).
And a good Mig-19, or 23, or 25?? How many time we need to wait Mig-lovers for good kits in 1/72 ?? There are no rare aircraft today and we are not in the ’60,s. We have a lot of information about those aircraft,,which is the reason for not to do good MIGs??
Hi gang,
Libor, can you reveal something about expected painting options for this bird? Czech Air Force for sure, but any others?
I can not wait for your future release of 72nd scale MiG-19!
Dear Libor,
))
It was now two weeks ago that more material was promissed. Any news of more material? This week?
Best regards
Gabor
Well done Libor. Looks beautiful. My only caution is, please don’t give us too many third party country markings and remember that it’s a Russian fighter. Give us at least two choices of Soviet frontal aviation!
There will be only Czech Air Force marking available in this release. Check this article, you can find there all painting options: http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=12146
Wow, the sprues look very nice and, although I’m not interested in jet aircraft, I’ll buy one when you release MiG-15 with Polish markings.
I have two questions, which are off-topic, about your products. Do you have any plans to release your Bf-109E in 72nd scale? And when can we expect Bf-110C in 72nd?
Can we expect a -15UTI in 1:72, if, as I expect, this sells by the bucketload? The KP/HobbyBoss kits are nice, but I’d hope Eduard would want to maximise the moulds.
Good to see it finally
Hi Libor,
is there any remote chance to see the legendary Mig-15 from your production in 1/48 or 1/32 scale?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Martin
Hello Martin,
As soon as the 72nd CAD drawings are finished, we’ll be deciding about the future of this project.
There is some chance we’ll redesign in for 48th scale, and really slight chance for 32nd scale.
However, you shouldn’t expect any of these in the horizon of 5+ years.
