As with the MiG-21MF, we are preparing Brassin sets for the BIS that will garnish attention on the cockpit and exhaust on the type, including the final compressor stage and exhaust ring, which were unique to the MiG-21BIS. Documentation for this was gained in Berlin at the Gatow museum, and significant guidance was also supplied by Gabor Szekeres.

Of the accumulated documentation, our designers were able to develop a computer 3D model. Thanks to the fact that the designers working on developing the plastic parts are the same ones also developing the resin sets, they tend to fit like the proverbial velvet glove.

Naturally, there are instances that require no, or minimal, alterations to the plastic parts. Pattern makers who file, grind and sand a given materials are not to be found here. The masters are made from the 3D model, and the grinding and sanding is done for us on the milling machines. Thanks to an ever-increasing level of technology, better and better output, including those of the Brassin line, appear at e-shops and retail shelves. We are able to produce various details, such as hoses and tubing, as fine relief detail.

At the moment, we are working on the 3D models of Brassin accessories for our new MiG-21BIS. This includes not only the cockpit, but also the exhaust, and these will be available in February 2012, immediately after a large assortment of photo-etched sets for the BIS. Because our Bf 109E in 1/48th scale is also slated for February, we are hoping that this month will be one to remember…
